“ChangingThePresent” was developed by Arvato Systems North America in cooperation with the initiator, WellGood, LLC. A small team at Arvato Systems set up the portal in just three and a half months, using programming technology based on “Ruby on Rails.
Anyone who’s looking for a meaningful alternative to meaningless Christmas gifts is encouraged to visit “ChangingThePresent.org,” a site that makes it possible to make donations to your own personal “favorite” causes in lieu of yet another useless gift to your friends (who really don’t want another fruitcake, as the site argues). Whether you’d like your money to go to buying polio shots for children in developing countries, protecting an acre of rainforest or paying for an hour of research by a cancer researcher – no cause is left unsupported.
The “ChangingThePresent” advisory board is full of VIPs as well: the idea of applying modern-day business practices to the non-profit sector is backed by a team of executives from more than 125 charities and noted companies, including Frank Zimmermann, Vice President Arvato Systems North America.
